Mediastinoscopy

Mediastinoscopy is a procedure that enables visualization of the contents of the mediastinum, and is done only for diagnosis purposes. The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. After performing a small incision in the lower neck and inserting optical equipment, biopsies are obtained from the mediastinal area. Surgery duration is about 20 minutes and the hospital stay is for one night only.
